Leatherhead Model Flying Club

Club Constitution

 

1.        The club shall be known as the Leatherhead Model Flying Club.

2.        The aims and objects of the club shall be the promotion of the building and responsible flying of model aircraft with due regard to the mutual interests of modellers and the safety of the general public.

3.        Control of the club shall be voted in a committee consisting of:

                                Chairman               Secretary               Treasurer
Training Officer    Competition Secretary         Site Officer            Safety Officer

4.        Entry Fees and Subscriptions

There will be a scale of entry fees and annual subscriptions, which will be set from time to time at a General Meeting subject to a majority vote in favour.

B.M.F.A. Subscriptions

These are additional to the above-mentioned subscriptions and are payable at the rate applicable when club subscriptions are due.
On changing from junior to senior the increased subscription will come into force in the year following that member’s 18th birthday. New members joining during the course of the year pay a subscription ending 31st December calculated at a proportion of the total annual subscription.

5.        The club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (the B.M.F.A.). The club’s Third Party insurance cover is arranged through the B.M.F.A. Any members intending to fly model aircraft must be paid up members of the B.M.F.A. Members should consult the B.M.F.A. handbook for general regulations.

6.        Lower age limit shall be 12 years. Children of 7 to 12 years of age may be accepted provided that the parent or guardian is an active flying member of the club and would always accompany that junior member particularly whilst operating models. Any such arrangement is subject to committee approval.

7.        An Annual General Meeting shall be held not later than 30th April each year. The secretary shall give at least 14 days written notice of the Annual General Meeting inviting nominations for committee members. Nomination for election shall be given in writing to the secretary before the A.G.M. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be held at the written request of 10 members. Secretary is then to inform all members giving at least 14 days notice, detailing the proposition and naming the proposer and seconder.

8.        Any member wishing to resign may do so, in writing to the secretary.

9.        Any member whose subscription has not been paid by the first club meeting in February of the club’s current financial year shall be considered to have resigned.

10.     The Constitution may only be altered by a two-thirds majority at a properly convened Annual or Extraordinary General Meeting with the proviso that there is a minimum of four committee members present.

11.     An interested and responsible person shall be elected president.

12.     For an ordinary club meeting to become official and where decisions can be made, a quorum of 25% of the membership should be in attendance, two of whom are elected officers.

13.     The Committee shall have the power to co-opt a club member on to the committee, provided that the member is agreeable, subject to a maximum of two at any one time.

14.     No member can serve on the committee unless he has been a club member for a minimum of one year.

15.     Members shall abide by the rules of the club. Site regulations will be determined from time to time by the committee.

16.     Members who persistently disregard club rules or site regulations may have their membership withdrawn. Withdrawal of membership will be at the discretion of a minimum of three members of the committee, one of whom will be the Chairman.

17.     Guest Membership - The member inviting a guest must supply BFMA membership details to the club secretary in advance of their visit – so that the guest membership can be issued by the secretary.
The same person cannot be a guest more than twice in any calendar year regardless of who’s guest they are.
Guest members must hold a BFMA “A” certificate (or equivalent for foreign nationals).
Guest members will be accompanied to the flight line by one of the club’s instructors or committee member to ensure that local site rules are obeyed.
Guests members and their models must comply with the club’s current rules and noise regulations.

18.     Any matter not covered by the above shall be decided by the Chairman.
